We cannot begin to thank you enough for your willingness to be a Cabin Leader, Dean, or Helper for a week of Camp!!! There have been many times we have had to turn away campers because we did not have enough leaders, so THANK YOU so much for sacrificing your time to serve God at SBYCamp!

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a Cabin Leader, you will play a pivotal role in creating a memorable and enriching experience for campers during a week of Summer Camp. Your primary responsibility is to oversee the well-being, safety, discipleship, and engagement of a group of campers within a designated cabin. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervision: Supervise a group of campers throughout their daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.


  • Spiritual Mentorship: Serve as a positive spiritual role model for campers, living a life that is pleasing to God, be able to lead a child to Christ and help disciple campers using God’s Word!


  • Activity Facilitation: Lead and participate in various camp activities, including games, sports, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, or wherever assigned by the Dean, to ensure campers have a fun and fulfilling experience.


  • Conflict Resolution: Address any conflicts or behavioral issues that arise among campers in a fair and constructive manner, promoting teamwork and cooperation.


  • Safety Protocols: Enforce camp rules and safety protocols to mitigate risks and ensure a safe environment for all campers and staff.




HOW TO APPLY:

2. STEP TWO: Once your application has been received you will be sent a background check to complete.

*PLEASE DO BOTH ABOVE STEPS EARLY ON SO WE CAN COMPLETE YOUR REGISTRATION IN A TIMELY MANNER

3. STEP THREE: When your application & background check have been completed & approved, THEN you will receive a link from Ministry Safe* to complete the training BEFORE arriving at SBYCamp. More information about Ministry Safe at the bottom of this page.

*If you have completed a background check or the ministry safe in the last 5 years, you will not receive these links.



ADDITIONAL INFO:

  • Cabin Leaders/Churches sending campers, please follow the guidelines of sending 1 cabin leader per 5 campers.
  • Cabin Leaders must be 21 or older for the following camps: Teen, Specialty, Junior-Senior
  • Cabin Leaders must be 18 or older for the following camps: Junior, Kindergarten, Primary
  • Contact the Dean so he/she can give/receive information to better prepare for camp.
  • The best situation for Campers and the continuity of camp is for you to stay at camp from the time you arrive for check-in until camp is dismissed. If your situation does not allow this, please discuss it with the Dean prior to your arrival.
  • We would prefer that you do not bring your own children to camp so that your focus can be on your campers. However, if you have no other option and plan to bring your own children, please follow these rules:
  1. Bringing children outside the age of campers MUST BE APPROVED
  2. All children, any age, must stay in cabins with the same gender.
  3. Use the following guideline to help cover the expenses of your own children:

                 *Age 5 and under = free

                 *Age of campers for the session attending = camper fee

                 *Other age for a Primary camp = $15.00 (this is less than $2 a meal)

                *Other age for a 6-day camp = $25 (this is less than $2 a meal)
